New York City-based utility Con Edison has installed a 200-panel, 40 kW solar array atop the roof of its office tower in Manhattan.
According to the utility, the panels, which were manufactured by Suniva Inc., generate enough electricity to light two floors at its headquarters.
Con Edison notes that the solar array is connected to a remote monitoring system that is updated every 15 minutes, enabling operators to observe the production of the panels in real time.
Gehrlicher Solar America Corp. handled engineering and project management, and Progressive Solutions LLC advised on design and installation.
