Conergy is developing and building five solar farms totaling 40 MW for Primrose Solar in the U.K. The projects are backed by York Capital Management and Pioneer Point Partners LLP.

Three of the power plants in the portfolio will be located in county of Dorset. The others will be built close to Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. Altogether, the farms are expected to generate approximately 38.1 GWh of electricity annually. All of the sites are on agricultural land and will not be visible to the general public. Panels will be mounted on elevated racks to enable sheep to graze underneath, increasing the land's productivity.

Siting issues have created problems for solar projects in the U.K.

Conergy developed the portfolio, which is part of a nine project, 90 MW pipeline, together with U.K.-based Camborne Energy. Conergy will perform all procurement, engineering and construction services. As the general contractor, Conergy will also take on operations and maintenance duties.

"We continue to see strong demand for solar farm development and construction in the U.K. and other European countries, as well as opportunities to increase these activities in the high-growth Asian and American markets,’ says Alexander Gorski, Conergy's chief operating officer and CEO for Europe.
