Constellation Energy Developing 5.2 MW Solar Installation

0

Constellation Energy has entered into agreements with Johnson Matthey Inc. and Preferred Unlimited Inc. to deploy a new 5.2 MW solar photovoltaic power system to serve the Johnson Matthey facility in West Deptford, N.J.

The installation will use photovoltaic panels from SunPower Corp., which will also design and build the system. Constellation Energy will finance, own, operate and maintain the system, and Johnson Matthey will purchase electricity produced by the installation under a 20-year power purchase agreement.

The project, which will be ground-mounted on approximately 21 acres and use single-axis tracking, is expected to produce approximately 20% of the West Deptford facility's electricity requirements. Construction has begun and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2011.
