Cooper Bussmann Introduces Higher-Voltage Solar Fuse Links

0

Cooper Bussmann, a provider of circuit-protection products, has increased the voltage rating of its 20 A solar PV fuse to 1,000 VDC.

The 20 A version of the fuse was previously rated to 900 VDC. According to the company, this change will provide PV system original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with greater flexibility in protecting higher-power PV strings.

The new 1,000 VDC 20 A rating now completes the entire 1 A to 20 A range of Cooper Bussmann 1,000 VDC PV fuse links so that they all meet the IEC 60269-6 standard requirements, the company adds.

‘The use of higher voltages, particularly up to 1,000 VDC, is becoming the global norm,’ says Ben Rooke, product manager. ‘This, in turn, puts pressure on PV system OEMs to source and install overcurrent-protection solutions that are capable of meeting their requirements and are able to be easily packaged.’
