Chicago-based Cronan Graf Corp. (CG), a solar contractor and provider of site analysis and energy monitoring services, has introduced GeoPV, a Web service for photovoltaic site analysis.
According to CG, software 3D modeling and simulation are becoming less expensive and easier to access, allowing solar installers who adopt these design methods for site evaluation to enjoy faster, more accurate estimation of costs and performance, easier project management and new possibilities for marketing.
With programs like Google SketchUp making the creation of 3D structural models easy and free, the GeoPV website enables detailed, site-specific analysis of PV performance to be done without the use of complicated desktop software. Easier access to sophisticated modeling techniques means solar professionals can more efficiently apply their experience to project design, the company says.
