Darden Restaurants plans to install a 1.1 MW rooftop solar array at its Restaurant Support Center (RSC) in Orlando, Fla. The project will generate enough power to subsidize 15% to 20% of the RSC's annual usage, according to Darden.
Upon completion later this year, Darden's rooftop solar installation is expected to produce up to 1.9 GWh of electricity annually, the company adds. Opened in September 2009, Darden's RSC has received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold certification for New Construction.
