Department Of Energy Finalizes Loan Guarantee To Cogentrix

U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Steven Chu says that the DOE has finalized a $90.6 million loan guarantee to Cogentrix of Alamosa LLC. The loan guarantee will support the Alamosa solar project, a 30 MW high-concentration PV (HCPV) power generation facility.

The project, located in south central Colorado near the city of Alamosa, represents one of the first utility-scale HCPV facilities in the U.S., according to the DOE. Cogentrix estimates the project will support up to 100 construction jobs.

Under the project's power purchase agreement, the Public Service Co. of Colorado will buy the power generated by the solar facility for the next 20 years.Â

The conditional loan guarantee for the project was announced in May.
