Duke Energy Renewables has acquired the Black Mountain solar project, a 10 MW solar plant near Kingman, Ariz., from SOLON Corp.
The project, under construction in Mohave County, is expected to achieve commercial operation this October. UniSource Energy Services will buy the power generated at the site through a 20-year power purchase agreement.
SOLON designed the solar array and provided its single-axis tracking technology. The company will continue to construct the project and handle operations, monitoring and maintenance of the system after it is commissioned.
SOLON's German parent company filed for insolvency last December and was acquired by Microsol in March.
