DuPont says it is now offering two new photovoltaic module encapsulation materials, in addition to its Elvax EVA resins: the UL-recognized PV5200 series PVB-based sheets and PV5300 sheets, which are based on ionomer technology.
The company says these ionomer-based sheets can help manufacturers employ alternative manufacturing systems and technologies, as no chemical crosslinking is needed. Ionomer-based sheets, DuPont says, offer strong resistance to moisture intrusion at module edges and extra stiffness for lower module deflections when faced with wind loads. The thermoplastic sheet is also applicable to building-integrated designs.
