Dyesol Inc. and Pilkington North America, part of the NSG Group, have expanded their collaboration to form a new company, DyeTec Solar (DTS).
According to the companies, DTS will develop and deliver the standard technology platform solution for mass manufacture of building-integrated photovoltaics, automotive-integrated photovoltaics, and interior PV-generating glass-based products, powered displays and security devices.
DTS will collaborate and assist companies globally, including existing customers and routes to market, to capture a share of the nearly 50 million tons of flat glass produced annually – of which 90% is used in buildings. Where most photovoltaic technologies work well while facing the sun, dye solar cell-based products allow all sides of a building to be electrically productive, and capable of producing power all day, every day, even in less-than-ideal conditions, the companies explain.
