Eaton Corp. has introduced its S-Max Series grid-tied solar inverter to the market. The S-Max is designed to operate in harsh environments and adhere to high safety standards, and converts sunlight into alternating current, the company says.
The S-Max is based on Eaton's PowerChain Management solutions, which incorporate Eaton's programmable logic controllers, advanced variable-frequency drives and protective relays. The 250 kW inverter also incorporates the company's active-front-end technology.
The S-Max inverter is designed to minimize offline events through the use of utility-grade electric relays, which provide high fault tolerance, and the company's PVgard health monitor provides predictive-based maintenance, Eaton explains.
The S-Max is Underwriters Laboratory 1741 listed for 600 V direct-current and three-phase utility interactive operation, the company adds.
