E.ON Climate & Renewables Solar (EC&R) has commissioned two photovoltaic projects in the Tucson, Ariz., area with a combined total capacity of 20 MW. Both projects have long-term power purchase agreements with utility Tucson Electric Power (TEP).
Tech Park Solar (TPS), a 7 MW project, was developed in collaboration with the Campus Research Corp. at the University of Arizona Science and Technology Park Solar Zone and TEP.
Valencia Solar, a 13 MW project, came online in late June. Construction of the two facilities began in the second half of 2012.
‘These are our maiden solar facilities in the U.S. and signal E.ON's commitment to solar development in the U.S. market,’ says Christophe Jurczak, president of EC&R Solar.
Components for the projects were provided by U.S. inverter manufacturer Eaton and tracker manufacturer Terrafix.
