EDF EN Canada, an EDF Energies Nouvelles company, has started construction of a 23.4 MW solar photovoltaic power development southeast of Arnprior, Ontario, Canada. Consisting of more than 300,000 solar panels, the site will generate clean electricity for nearly 7,000 homes during peak times when the province's power demand is high.
The Arnprior Solar Project is being developed as two installations under the Government of Ontario's Standard Offer Program, which encourages renewable energy production to help replace coal-fired generation. The electricity produced will provide local electricity service via connections to the Hydro One distribution grid.
