enXco, an EDF Energies Nouvelles Company, has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Carrier Clinic, a not-for-profit behavioral healthcare system located in Belle Mead, N.J.
The agreement sets in motion the development of the solar photovoltaic array that could reach 1.9 MW when design is completed. Under the terms of the contract, enXco will own and operate the system and supply the project's output to Carrier Clinic on a net-metering basis. enXco is scheduled to begin construction this spring and expects the project will produce energy in the second quarter of 2009.
The ground-mount fixed tilt solar array, utilizing First Solar modules deployed from EDF EN's global supply agreement, will be constructed on 12 acres and will be the largest solar system on a New Jersey hospital campus, the company notes. The project, co-developed by Clean Energy Holdings in association with Trinity Solar, will further qualify for New Jersey renewable energy certificates.
