ESA Renewables Plans PV Array In North Carolina

0

Progress Energy, headquartered in Raleigh, N.C., has signed a contract with ESA Renewables LLC under which ESA Renewables will build, own and operate a solar photovoltaic array at the Port of Morehead City, N.C. ESA Renewables will sell the entire output of the 800 kW system to the utility.

The array will be located on the roof of the Port Authority warehouse. It is expected to be completed by this summer and produce more than 1,125 MWh of electricity per year. This project was proposed in response to Progress Energy Carolinas' request for renewable energy proposals, which was issued in November 2008 as part of the company's plan to meet the requirements of North Carolina's renewable portfolio standard.
