Pasadena, Calif.-based eSolar, a producer of modular, scalable solar thermal power plants, will supply its heliostat and sun tracking technology solutions to Sundrop Fuels. This agreement is the first commercial contract to leverage eSolar technology for use in a process heat application.
In the multi-million dollar deal, eSolar has agreed to supply solar collecting equipment and licenses for its solar concentrator technology to Sundrop Fuels, a Colorado-based company funded by leading clean technology venture capitalist firms Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Oak Investment Partners.
eSolar says that this agreement augments its core solar thermal power plant business model and supports the company's mission of making solar energy cost-competitive with fossil fuel based-energy on a global scale.
