Evergreen Solar Inc., manufacturer of its proprietary String Ribbon wafer technology, is working with the Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Co. (MMWEC) to advance solar power opportunities for customers of Massachusetts municipal utilities.
Evergreen Solar and MMWEC are working together to install pilot PV systems on schools, municipal buildings and other high-profile sites in communities served by municipal utilities. These installations will promote renewable energy in conjunction with the governor's ‘Commonwealth Solar’ program.
Additionally, MMWEC plans to work with Evergreen Solar to develop a municipal program that will provide incentives for customers who live in municipal utility communities to purchase solar systems for both residential and commercial installations.
