First Colorado Home Builder To Make Solar Systems A Standard

0

Harvard Communities, a Denver-headquartered home builder, is partnering with Namaste Solar Electric, a solar design and installation company based in Boulder, Colo., to install solar photovoltaic systems on all new homes in the Stapleton community in Denver.

Harvard Communities is offering its Harvard Solar Advantage program as a standard feature for all new Architect Collection homes in the area. This partnership represents the first in the state to make the installation a standard, the companies say.

According to the companies, the systems will provide approximately 30% of each home's electrical power needs and allow excess power that is produced to be sold back to the local utility provider. Current Architect Collection homes already use 40% less energy for heating and cooling than an average new home – the addition of solar panels will make them 10% more efficient.
