First Solar says it has certified Ecoppia's autonomous, waterless cleaning technology for use on all solar sites employing First Solar's PV modules.
Before these autonomous solutions were available, water and brush-based solutions had been the industry standard for years. Now, these cleaning robots operate through a mobile uplink, providing consistent cleaning on a nightly basis, and the uplift in solar output enables increased revenue for site owners.
Ecoppia says its waterless robotic cleaning solution has also gained certifications from a number of other panel manufacturers, including Trina Solar, Suntech and JA Solar.
