First Solar Inc. and EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF) say they are in the final stages of negotiations with the town of Blanquefort, France, to build a new solar panel manufacturing plant.
First Solar will operate the facility, which will be co-financed by the company and EDF. In turn, First Solar will sell the entire module output of the facility to EDF for its first 10 years of operation.
If the 100 MW plant is approved, construction is expected to begin in the second half of 2010.
