First Solar Inc. says its cadmium-telluride thin-film solar modules have passed the International Electrotechnical Commission's (IEC) 61701 salt mist corrosion test, which assesses module performance in coastal environments.
‘The data shows that our modules can be expected to produce clean electricity in coastal marine environments without any performance concerns,’ explains John Kufner, First Solar's director of global module product management.
The IEC 61701 accreditation applies to First Solar's Series 3 modules, which are backed by a 25-year performance warranty and covered by a pre-funded collection and recycling program.
