First Wind says commercial operations have commenced at its 14 MW Warren solar project in Massachusetts. The system joins the nearby 3 MW Millbury array as the company's first completed solar project.
The Warren project is located at three sites in the town and supplies the University of Massachusetts under a 30-year power purchase agreement.
First Wind will make annual tax payments of $50,000 to the town of Millbury and $130,000 annually to the town of Warren. In addition, the towns of Millbury and Orange will receive a smaller portion of the projects' output through net metering agreements.
