Florida PV Installation Uses Sprayed-Foam Attachment System

Solar Energy Management, a Tampa, Fla.-based solar power and energy efficiency company, has completed a 50 kW solar installation on the SunTrust Building at 300 1st Ave. South in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The array, which uses Suniva modules, also utilizes the world's first sprayed urethane foam distributed-load attachment system, according to the company. The urethane-sprayed hard foam roof, installed by TarHeel Roofing, serves as the support system for the solar array stands; there are no penetrations in the roof.Â

Additionally, because the new urethane-sprayed foam roof supports the system, the 30% investment tax credit can be utilized for the entire cost of the new roof and renewable energy system, Solar Energy Management notes.Â
