The Sunshine State has a new solar initiative, thanks to Florida Governor Charlie Crist's executive order requiring utilities to generate one-fifth of their electricity from renewable energy sources. The executive order, which was signed on Friday at the end of a two-day Summit on Global Climate Change held in Miami, did not provide a specific date regarding the implementation of the one-fifth requirement.
Crist also announced that solar panels will be installed on the roof of the governor's mansion later this month.
