Fronius International GmbH has developed a prototype for a new solar inverter called the Hybrid.
The inverter allows for temporary storage of self-generated energy using batteries. Any of the self-generated solar energy that cannot be used immediately can be stored in the Fronius Hybrid inverter for use at a later time. Other key benefits include increased self-consumption and greater independence in terms of energy supply, Fronius says. The power supply can also be maintained in the event of a grid failure.
The modular design allows memory flexibility and expansion at any time, the company adds. The device is expected to be available in 2014.
