GDF Suez Energy Resources NA, a retail electricity provider, will donate renewable energy certificates (RECs) to the United States Tennis Association (USTA) to match 100% of electricity consumption at the 2013 U.S. Open.

Each REC represents the environmental attributes of energy generated from a renewable source, such as solar or wind.

‘Thanks to the support of GDF Suez Energy Resources, we're bringing more awareness of the importance of green energy to the fans and attendees of the U.S. Open,’ says the USTA's Joseph Crowley.

The tournament will be held Aug. 26 through Sept. 9 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, located in New York City.
