GE Energy has unveiled its new wireless meter for the Brilliance residential solar energy system, which allows homeowners to measure and compare a home's consumption and solar array production.
The new solar meter enables consumers to view daily, monthly and yearly power and energy data in real time, the company says. In addition, the unit's 900 MHz wireless communication allows more flexibility in placement within the home, reduces installation costs and allows for quick installation, GE notes.
‘Studies have shown that knowing energy consumption can reduce consumption habits up to 10 percent,’ says Victor Abate, vice president of renewables for GE Energy. ‘Now homeowners can compare how much energy they are using with how much their solar systems are producing in an informative and easy-to-read way.’
