GEMCO Constructing Triple-State Thermal Project

0

Glenbarra Energy Management Corp. (GEMCO) has entered into a contract with Shouldice Hospital to provide the turnkey design of a triple-state absorption thermal cooling and heating system. The system is designed to address the cooling, heating and domestic hot water needs of the hospital.

The Shouldice project, located at 7750 Bayview Ave. in Toronto, will provide a live test center to showcase the viability of using this renewable technology and energy-storage capability, GEMCO says. The core components of the system include 10 solar cooling machines and 141 solar thermal collectors.

Based on preliminary energy modeling, the system is targeted to offset the following loads for the hospital: 36% of cooling, 44% of heating and 91% of domestic hot water.
