Germany-based automation specialist Maschinenbau GEROLD GmbH & Co. KG says it is now offering automated edge-trimming solutions for photovoltaic module finishing.
GEROLD's finishing production equipment, which assumes a minimum footprint on fabrication lines, features a versatile industrial robot and efficient trimming tool. Also, the company can integrate an inspection station in concert with the trimming technology.
Suitable for glass-glass or glass-foil thin-film or crystalline modules, the robot ensures force-controlled trimming of all module edges within seconds, GEROLD says. The trimming station can be set up parallel to an existing production line or integrated into an existing line. Linking is accomplished by means of angular transfers or by linearly connecting two lines, respectively.
