Global Warming Solutions Inc. has initiated research and development for a small light electric thermal generator (LETG) solar power plant with a capacity of up to 1 MW. LETG is a hybrid solar and thermal energy technology that generates energy by heating liquids that circulate on the surface of a solar panel to produce electricity even during periods of no sunlight.
The plant will feature a combination of LETG technology with a low-temperature thermal turbine. The rated levelized cost of developing the LETG solar power plant is projected to be 1.9 to 2.2 times less than the levelized cost of a conventional solar thermal plant, the company says.
