GoSolarMarin Concludes Successful Second Program

GoSolarMarin (GSM), a Marin County, Calif.-based organization designed to reduce solar installation prices for homeowners by buying systems in bulk, has completed its second program.

‘A total of nearly 200 new solar installations will have resulted from our marketing programs, which began in late 2007,’ says Lisa Max, founder of GSM. In that time, more than 1,000 individuals and businesses have registered with GoSolarMarin and have been eligible for its discount pricing initiative. The program eventually made lower pricing available to all property owners in the county and has become the largest community solar installation project in history in California, GSM says.

Both GSM programs were developed through an open request for proposals process. During the two programs, more than two dozen companies competed for the GSM recommendation. The first program selected SPG Solar of Novato, Calif., as vendor-of choice. The second program selected SolarCity of Foster City, Calif.
