Henry Molded Products, a Palmyra, Pa.-headquartered provider of protective packaging, custom items, and decorative floral and horticultural containers, has installed a 202 kW solar installation.
According to Douglass C. Henry, president of Henry Molded Products, the project was made possible by the Department of Environmental Protection's Pennsylvania Sunshine Solar Program, a rebate grant to help fund solar electric installations.
The company selected a roof-mounted solar array, which required a south-facing roof. This requirement, combined with upgraded construction codes, made it cost-effective and energy-efficient to construct a new facility, the company says. A1 Energy of Landisville, Pa., and J3 Energy of Schuylkill Haven, Pa., joined forces for the design and installation of the system.
The solar system consists of 960 photovoltaic panels covering approximately 90% of the roof. Arranged in strings of sixteen, panels connect to 12 inverters to convert power from DC to AC.
