The Snohomish County Public Utility District (PUD), located north of Seattle, has hired Chris Herman to lead its new solar energy program as a senior energy-efficiency program manager.
Herman, owner of Winter Sun Design, has significant experience designing new homes and remodels utilizing passive and active solar, recycled content and low-toxicity building materials and systems. He has consulted on solar projects since 1987. Herman has also taught solar home design at the UW Experimental College and is a founding board member of Sustainable Edmonds.
In addition, he is the co-founder and a longtime steering committee member of the NW Eco-Building Guild, a founding board member and the former president of the Solar Washington Association and a lifetime member of the American Solar Energy Society.
