The Extrusion Americas unit of Hydro Aluminum has been chosen to supply custom extruded aluminum to two new solar thermal facilities currently under construction in Spain: the Palma del Rio II and Majadas solar power plants.
The materials Hydro Aluminum is supplying will be used in the trough frames of both projects. Palma del Rio II will utilize 9,153 frames, while the Majadas construction will use 8,700. Hydro Aluminum will ship nearly 15 million pounds of aluminum for the two projects during a 10-month window. Both facilities are being built by Acciona, a Spanish energy company.
