Home furnishings retailer IKEA says that the 200 kW solar energy system on its store in Brooklyn is now commissioned, operational and certified by Con Edison and New York City.
The array occupies 19,000 square feet and features four different module types totaling 1,104 panels. It is expected to generate 240,000 kWh of electricity annually for the store.
IKEA notes that it also has solar energy systems operational at locations in Burbank, Calif.; Pittsburgh; Centennial, Colo.; and Tempe, Ariz. Installations are underway on programs at seven locations in California and two other East Coast stores: Paramus, N.J.; and Stoughton, Mass.
