IKEA has installed a 623 kW addition to the photovoltaic array on its store in Centennial, Colo., bringing the total up to over 1.12 MW.
The furniture retailer contracted with REC Solar Inc. for the development, design and installation of the system. The full array now consists of 4,704 solar panels that are expected to generate 1.7 GW of electricity per year.
‘We are fortunate to have the roof space and corporate commitment to more than double the energy being generated on-site here at the store,’ says John Ellis, store manager of the Centennial location. ‘We are proud to make this investment.’
