Does solar power equate to corporate social responsibility? The office supply retailer Staples Inc. believes it does. The Framingham, Mass.-based company released its ‘2006 Staples Soul Report’ highlighting its ‘commitment to corporate responsibility.’
One of the key elements of the report was the company's interest involved renewable energy: ‘Doubling the purchase of clean renewable energy to 20 percent of U.S. electricity consumption and installing nine rooftop solar systems’ was cited as proof that Staples is a good corporate citizen.
