Isofoton, Affirma Energy Developing Solar Charging Stations

0

Spain-based Affirma Energy and Isofoton – both Affirma Group companies – have begun work on solar-powered charging stations for electric car batteries.

The companies have partnered with the Administrator of Spanish Railway Infrastructures as lead partner in a project supported by the INNPACTO research program. The project will use regenerative braking-train chargers, which use the energy generated by braking trains and allow charging from power lines, complemented by PV panels.

The stations will be covered with canopies on which photovoltaic panels are mounted and have an intelligent tracker in order to optimize system performance, the companies note. The models developed are also expected to be used outside Spain.
