Isopad, a provider of customized heating solutions, has developed radiant heating platens that offer thin-film photovoltaic cell manufacturers the opportunity to make significantly larger cells.
According to the company, the solution has been achieved by embedding its mineral-insulated heating cable into the panels onto which the substrate is positioned, delivering reliable and uniform heat under vacuum for the deposition and lamination processes. The product can successfully handle platens larger than four square meters and has already gone into service with major manufacturers of PECVD and lamination equipment.
