In partnership with San Jose, Calif.-based SunPower, Labcon North America, a producer of low-carbon laboratory disposables, has installed an 800 kW rooftop solar panel system on its Petaluma, Calif., headquarters. The array will contribute about 30% of Labcon's energy needs.
The $3.3 million project, which received financing from U.S. Bancorp Equipment Finance, began with upgrading the facility's roof to support over 2,500 solar panels.
The project took seven months and also included improvements to power-routing systems.
