Largest Solar Installation In Vermont Comes Online

AllEarth Renewables says it has commissioned the largest solar array in Vermont: a 2.2 MW system located in South Burlington.

Pole-mounted AllSun Trackers use GPS and wireless technology to follow the sun throughout the day, producing more than 40% more energy than fixed solar arrays, the company says. The installation will sell an estimated 2.91 million kWh annually to Vermont's Sustainably Priced Energy Development (SPEED) program.

More than 75 local contractors, engineers, suppliers, developers, parts fabricators, manufacturers and other workers that had a direct hand in building the project attended the commissioning. Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin, Lt. Gov. Phil Scott and Rep. Shap Smith also spoke at the event.
