The specialty films division of Madico Inc. will expand its suite of photovoltaic PV backsheets at the Intersolar Conference May 27-29 with the introduction of Charcoal Protekt and Protekt TFB HD at booth A3-643.
The multi-layered construction behind Charcoal Protekt and Protekt TFB HD produces dramatically less unit mass and adheres to a lean manufacturing process that generates less greenhouse gas, the company says. The end result is a family of eco-friendly backsheets that provide solar panel makers with maximum power, bond strength, weather resistance and aesthetically pleasing design options.
Charcoal Protekt boasts a dark, discreet appearance that makes it an ideal solution for the building-integrated photovoltaic sector. The industry-first charcoal coating blends into the module to integrate seamlessly into virtually any home or building, notes Madico.
The construction of Protekt TFB HD incorporates an additional layer of aluminum into the sheet to form a weatherable barrier that eliminates moisture penetration entirely. The material was created especially for thin-film applications.Â
