Main Street Power Co. Inc., a national solar developer based in Boulder, Colo., has been awarded a contract by the San Diego Unified School District's (SDUSD) Board to build, own and operate 4.5 MW of distributed solar photovoltaic systems on approximately 36 sites across the district.
Main Street Power was awarded these projects in response to a competitive request for proposals issued by the district. Moore Electric will partner with Main Street to handle the labor and installation work.
Under the power purchase agreement, Main Street will own and operate the systems on SDUSD schools for 20 years, selling energy at a discount. In addition, Main Street Power will be holding a professional development course to provide SDUSD teachers with student workshops and a K-12 science curriculum developed in accordance with national education standards.
