Marathon Special Products has released a new group of UL Recognized power terminal blocks that are designed for use with combiner boxes of solar power installations.
The blocks feature a one-piece terminal that is sized for small solar panel wires, and can combine up to 24 or 48 strings to distribute 310 A to 620 A, respectively. Previous power block options left panel builders with terminals sized for #4 AWG wires, which are larger than what typical solar panel strings need (#10 AWG or smaller).
Marathon's new power blocks have multiple #8 AWG terminals that take up half the space current options provide, the company says. The large number of terminals per block also eliminates the need to assemble multiple components together to create a suitable combining device, Marathon adds.
