Motech Develops LEO Multi- And Mono-Crystalline Solar Cells

Motech Industries Inc. says its Delaware-based solar module manufacturer, Motech Americas, has developed its new LEO high-performance monocrystalline and multicrystalline solar cells.

LEO cells combine a new metallization solution with enhanced manufacturing processes, resulting in higher conversion efficiencies, the company says. These multicrystalline and monocrystalline cells will deliver conversion efficiency ratings of 17.4% and 18.6%, respectively.

The new LEO cells will be incorporated into the company's XS series of solar modules, which will be offered in 255 W and 300 W versions. Motech expects to begin shipping the new LEO cells and LEO-based monocrystalline modules in early 2012.
