Motech Industries Inc. says it will provide customers that import laminates, panels and/or modules into the U.S. with a Solar Cell Certificate of Origin. When a customer requests modules from one of the manufacturing facilities outside of the U.S., Motech will provide the customer with a certificate.
According to the company, the purpose of the document is to exclude the modules from cash deposit or bond requirements for customers importing modules from Motech into the U.S. in accordance with the recent announcement by the Department of Commerce of its affirmative preliminary determination in the countervailing-duty and anti-dumping investigations on imports of solar cells from China.
Motech notes that it has not exported to the U.S. any modules using Chinese solar cells since January and would not be subject to this ruling.
