The Westlake junction box from Multi-Contact USA, a manufacturer of precision electrical and electronic connectors, has been UL-recognized for a rated voltage of 1,000 V, the company says. This new quality and safety milestone means that the box is no longer limited to a conventional 600 V configuration.
A compact junction box for crystalline modules, the Westlake features a flat design, which enables it to be installed directly under the module frame. This design eliminates the need to bend over the ribbon connectors, reducing module complexity and copper use, according to Multi-Contact.
The module's horizontal contact ribbons are connected to the contact plates of the junction box by welding, spring clips or soldering.
