Mustang Solar has rolled out the Orion Series, a roll-to-roll deposition platform for flexible thin-film PV manufacturing processes.
The Orion Series is designed as a platform with flexible configurations to meet individual process requirements within a standardized proven production tool set. The flexible design makes future upgrades and process changes easy, enabling customers to cost-effectively increase cell efficiencies as their process evolves, Mustang Solar explains.
Technical features of the line include the following:
- Plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD), CPV, evaporation, as well as planar or rotatable magnetron deposition processes can be configured in up to 14 different deposition positions at temperatures up to 500 degress C and a base pressure of 5 x 10-7 torr;
- AC/DC, pulsed DC or RF disciplines are supported with fully automated power management;
- Dual directional deposition allows for deposition in either direction at up to 10 meters per minute for substrates up to 1 meter wide; and
- Includes tools for front contact, back contact, and absorber layers for copper indium gallium diselenide and cadmium telluride.
