MX Group, an Italy-based PV module producer, has officially opened a manufacturing facility in Somerset, N.J.
The New Jersey location, MX Solar USA, will have an initial production capacity of 65 MW – an amount that is anticipated to double in 2011. MX Solar USA will employ 120 people by next March, increasing to 190 direct employees by the end of 2011.
The technology utilized for the production lines comes from 3-S Swiss Solar Systems, which has collaborated with the group in Italy for several years. By June 2011, a 1 MW PV array will be installed on the roof of the building to supply power for MX Solar USA's activities, the company adds.
