MX Solar USA, a subsidiary of Italian solar panel manufacturer MX Solar, has ended production at its New Jersey facility, the company told The Record, a local New Jersey newspaper.
According to the report, MX Solar said it could no longer compete with low-priced Chinese products.
‘We had to cease production because we were so drastically affected by the Chinese dumping of solar panels,’ Carlo Santoro, MX Solar's director of business development, told The Record. ‘We can't make them for what they are being sold for.’
MX Solar reportedly laid off most of its employees in March, and the company cut the remaining production workers in May, according to The Record.
MX Solar was a founding member of the Coalition for American Solar Manufacturing, which has been involved in ongoing trade suits against China.
